This sounds really interesting and also Iām working on the same approach, and I like your idea to make an announcement before actually posting stories, I might steal the idea of the announcement post š
I want to support new writers and it's an interesting premise. So I'll subscribe (no need to sub back unless you're genuinely interested in my poetry).
However, here's the caveat, I don't normally open my emails... so you're open rate will go down.
The reason is because I have email fatigue from work. I get inundated with so many emails that emails get lost in all the chaos.
That is so kind! Thank you for the sub and follow. Iāll do the same. Iām happy to support a fellow writer. I love poetry. :-)
No worries about the email. Iād just be happy if someone enjoys reading it, whenever and however that happens. Also, I totally understand the email fatigue. I can see how you would want to avoid adding to that.
How about you revise Chapter 1 (and maybe Chapter 2 š), share those on the 30th, and keep making small revisions from there? No need to fall into the perfectionist trap. š
Glad I could help. š (Iāve been there many times myself, haha.) Looking forward to reading the upcoming story! Itās quite an interesting premise.
Haha yes⦠is it just me or is it hard to know when the work is ever really āready?ā I could revise it indefinitely. Thank you! I hope I do it justice. š¬ What are you writing?
Yes, it often feels like thereās something else you can change if you donāt decide to just walk away. š Currently Iām working on fantasy stories. Hopefully I can get out of this writerās block and write more soon.
This is very inspirational and makes me think about creative ways to draw people into my novel (which is probably a year or two away still...). Also, I. like the premise. I've recently discovered a strange fascination with ghosty, creepy kind of horror, and this sounds a bit a like it - The dream-like state of being caught in an alternative, institutionalised reality. I do like the sound of it and look forward to reading your first chapter.
Thank you for your kind words! Iām hoping to find readers and build an audience before trying the traditional pub route. I donāt know what Iām doing quite yet, but Iām enjoying the learning process. Iām fascinated by this sort of Black Mirror/Severance kind of alternate reality. I just hope I can do my vision justice. I appreciate your support and look forward to reading more of your work. š¤
I feel exactly the same! Writing my first novel, but thinking to find people interested in it on the way, but stumbling along. I found this yesterday: https://zoelea.substack.com/p/i-researched-author-newsletters-heres?r=3u0pwy&utm_medium=ios It might be interesting for you too. And regard the novel, I have an epic piece in mind, but like you I wonder sometimes if I can bring it across like I see it. Time will tell. Itās nice to connect with you š¤
Hey, thanks! I hope you enjoy it. The first three chapters will drop at the end of the month. Love the Twilight zone and Black Mirror. So your short story vibe sounds š perfect.
Thanks for the restack, @Vanessa Perry!
Of course! I look forward to reading your work!

Best of luck on your writing journey!
It sounds really interesting! I canāt wait for you to get started!
Thanks! Iām feeling super nervous about it. š does that feeing fade eventually?
what day will you begin releasing the chapters?
My goal was April 30th, but I have a lot of revisions still to make. Hoping I can get it done by then.

Thanks for your advice! And way to call out my perfectionism š youāre right. I may just have to do that. āŗļø
